Lagos—Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, yesterday, commissioned one of the newly completed multiple lay-bys at Iyana-Oworonshonki, Car Wash Bus-Stop, Kosofe Local Government Area of the state, with a warning to transport unions to desist from abusing the facility.

Ambode, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Transportation, Prince Nofiu Elegushi, declared the facility open to public use. He, however, explained that the measure was part of strategies to ensure free flow of traffic along the Oworonshoki/ inward Third Mainland Bridge axis.

He described the construction of lay-bys in the traffic prone areas as a strategic approach of Ambode’s administration to solving the recurring traffic gridlock in the state, especially in the axis.

According to Elegushi, “the Ambode-led administration remains committed to driving the state’s economy through efficient transportation in the state with resolve to improve on infrastructure that will ease transportation for residents.”
