Four years after Nigeria launched the Safe Schools Initiative (SSI), schools in Maiduguri are holding emergency safety drills for students. Much of the multi-million dollar for the program has gone towards building higher school walls and other preventive measures aimed at stopping the insurgency group known as Boko Haram. Despite the measures, many children are still risking their lives to get the education they need. Chika Oduah reports from Maiduguri.
