Nigeria: Police confirms abduction of Sokoto lawmaker

The Sokoto state Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Alhaji Aminu Bodai (APC- Dange/Shuni) by unknown gunmen in Bodai village of Dange/Shuni local government area of the state.

The Police Public Relationship Officer PPRO, Mr. Abubakar Sadiq made the confirmation to Voice of Nigeria through telephone call in Sokoto State North West Nigeria.

According to Sadiq, the state command received the information from the Divisional police office in Dange/Shuni local government area.

“Unknown gunmen in the early hour of Thursday went to the resident of a lawmaker representing Dange/Shuni in the state House of Assembly and abducted him.
“After receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police Mr Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje directed more reinforcement to track the abductors.

“Moreover, the police are presently in full surveillance of the forest surrounding the village of Bodai and neighboring communities,”the PPRO said.
He further gave assurance that the police were working closely with other security agencies to maintain peaceful and secured environment across all the twenty three local government areas in the state.

He called on the general public to continuously support the security agencies in the state by providing useful information of any unlawful activity to the police for proper action.
