Jewelry worth $3m (N944, 250, 000) has been stolen from a tour bus used by Drake Aubrey Graham, Grammy-winning rapper.

According to the Phoenix police, an Arizona stagehand was arrested on suspicion of the theft.

The suspect, 21-year-old Travion King, reportedly snatched the briefcase after boarding the bus at about 10 p.m at the Talking Stick Arena, Phoenix.

Vince Lewis, police spokesman said King had done unspecified contract work with local entertainment venues in the past, but was not known to be employed for work for that particular show.

The bus, which was being used for a show featuring Drake and Future, was unoccupied at the time of the theft while the stolen jewelry, Lewis said, did not belong to Drake.

King, who was first arrested around 3 a.am in a separate matter, is being held at a Maricopa County jail.

He was arrested on suspicion of trespassing in the Arizona State University Police in Tempe. Officers found him in a dormitory with a bag that held the stolen jewelry.

Just as the police was about to release him, detectives investigating the jewelry theft learnt he was being held at the jail and arrested him on suspicion of burglary.

King’s activity was captured by arena surveillance cameras and officers are working with him to account for the stolen items.
