Nigeria: Lagos state Governor promises citizens a better new year

The Governor of Lagos State, south-west Nigeria, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has pledged to ensure a fulfilling new year for the residents of the state.

The governor gave the indication at the ‘One Lagos Fiesta‘ a crossover event to usher in the new year at the Eko Atlantic City, Lagos.

Governor Ambode expressed optimism that 2018 would deliver more infrastructural renewal projects for the people while assuring that the State will record landmark achievements in major sectors of the economy in the New Year.

”There is every reason to believe that this be a special and remarkable for every Lagosians and for our dear state. Without a doubt, 2018 will be a unique year in our political trajectory. Yet, we shall not relent in fulfilling our promises to you. So, i urge you to expect the very best in the new year, the year that hold such a great promises for all of you”. Governor said




OLF concerts

Those who spoke with Voice of Nigeria expressed delight with the ‘One Lagos Fiesta’ OLF which run across the five divisions of the state and advised the government to remain on the track of infrastructural development across the state.

John Foster is a music enthusiast, he likened the event to the Dubai, China, Netherland and other crossover events across the world.

Foster who could not hide his joy thanked the Lagos governor for putting concerts of such magnitude together to make residents have a sense of belonging in the state.

Significance of OLF

Foremost Nigerian rapper, Femi Falana was also known as Falz is very elated with the event.

In an interview with VON, he said: ”event like this is significant because it is happening in a state where all the tribes in the country are co-habiting without any cause for violence”.

Indeed government deserves kudos for this” he said

Lagos Grows Talent

‘Lagos Grows Talent’, a segment of OLF has unveiled new talents after a keenly contested competition from all divisions of the state.

Ten finalists emerged and competed at the grand finale and winners emerged at the Eko Atlantic City.

2nd runner-up received five hundred thousand naira while the 1st runner-up got One million naira and the winner went home with One-point-five million naira.

Nigerian superstars including Davido, Olamide, Wizkid, Humble Smith Osupa Saheed, Salawa Abeni, Alao Malaika, among others thrilled their fans at various OLF centers to usher in the new year.

OLF, the biggest crossover event in Africa according to an entertainment analyst, Philip George kicked off on the 24th of December, 2017 and climax on the 1st of January 2018 and had over three hundred artists performing on stage with millions of people scattered across the five locations of the event receiving full entertainment experience and fun.
