President Muhammadu Buhari is on his way to Sochi, Russia for the Russia-Africa Summit, which starts on Wednesday October 23.

President Muhammadu Buhari is on his way to Sochi, Russia for the Russia-Africa Summit, which starts on Wednesday October 23.

He departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja at 13:15 GMT.

During the summit, President Buhari will meet with President Vladimir Putin of Russia to further strengthen relations in security, trade and investment, and building partnership that will enhance Nigeria’s huge gas potential, following Russia’s remarkable success in gas exportation.

He was accompanied by Governors Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Bello Matawalle of Zamfara and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.

President Buhari is expected back in Abuja on Friday, at the end of the summit, which many African leaders are also attending.
