The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday began their qualification quest for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia on a winning note.

The Eagles secured a 2-1 win over the Chipolopolo of Zambia, to end the invincibility of the team at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Wonderful strikes from the England based duo of Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho were enough to give Nigeria all the three points even though Zambia pulled one goal back in the second half.

With the win, the first ever on Zambian soil, Nigeria are early table toppers in Group B, while the result of the Algeria Cameroon game is being awaited later tonight.

Only the top teams in each group will get the berth to represent Africa at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
