Nigeria: Federal Government set to Prosecute Saraki, other Ex-governors

The Federal Government is set to formally prosecute Senate President Bukola Saraki along with other ex-governors before the end of October.

FG through the newly set up National Prosecution Coordination Committee will lay fraud charges against Saraki, Godswill Akpabio and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.

Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, wrote to both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices to formerly request records of all the files pertaining to the corruption cases against 31 former governors.

A source within the NNPC confirmed that charges are now expected to be formerly made against the ex-governors shortly, with it expected to proceed before the end of October.

Saraki is currently on trial over false declaration of assets.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has given President Muhammadu Buhari some strategies to get embattled Senate President Bukola Saraki removed from office.

Obasanjo told the President that it would be very difficult for Buhari to achieve his goal for Nigeria if he continued to tolerate a corrupt leadership at the National Assembly.
